Moisés Naím is a Venezuelan political analyst, writer, journalist, and diplomat, recognized globally as one of the most brilliant minds in the study of international relations, global geopolitics, and political economy. A distinguished fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C., his essays and research have transformed the contemporary understanding of the exercise of power and governance in the 21st century.
He graduated from the Central University of Venezuela and earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). During his academic career, he served as a professor of economics and dean at the Institute of Higher Studies in Administration (IESA) in Caracas, combining theoretical research with graduate-level teaching at institutions of the highest international standing.
In the public sector, he served as Venezuela’s Minister of Commerce and Industry in the early 1990s and later as Executive Director of the World Bank. For more than fourteen years, he led the prestigious magazine *Foreign Policy*, transforming it into an award-winning global publication. He is also the creator and host of the international television program *Efecto Naím*, which focuses on disseminating global political analysis.
