Hernán Lacunza is an Argentine economist recognized for his experience in the public and private sectors, especially in the field of economic policy. He was born on February 25, 1969 and graduated in Economics from the University of Buenos Aires, completing a master's degree in International Economics and Development at Yale University.
Lacunza has held several relevant positions in the Argentine government, standing out as Minister of Finance during the last months of Mauricio Macri's presidency in 2019. His administration was marked by a critical moment of economic and financial crisis, where he faced the challenge of stabilizing the economy and containing inflation and devaluation. His approach sought to mitigate the impacts of the crisis and lay the groundwork for a stabilization plan.
Prior to his role at the Ministry of Finance, he was Minister of Economy of the Province of Buenos Aires and General Manager of the Central Bank of Argentina. In both positions, Lacunza showed a remarkable ability to manage resources in highly volatile contexts and was valued for his technical and prudent approach.
In addition to his career in the public sector, Lacunza has worked in economic and financial consulting, both in Argentina and abroad, and has been a consultant to the World Bank.
