Richard Branson is a British entrepreneur, known for founding the Virgin Group conglomerate. Branson showed an entrepreneurial spirit from a young age, starting his first business at the age of 16 with "Student" magazine.
In 1970, he founded Virgin Mail Order Records and, two years later, opened his first record store in London, Virgin Records. The company expanded rapidly, releasing artists such as Mike Oldfield and the Sex Pistols, and became one of the most successful record labels of the era.
Over the decades, Branson diversified Virgin Group into multiple industries, including aviation with Virgin Atlantic, telecommunications with Virgin Mobile, and entertainment with Virgin Media. His innovative approach and ability to identify market opportunities enabled him to build a conglomerate that encompasses more than 400 companies.
One of his greatest achievements is the creation of Virgin Galactic in 2004, a commercial spaceflight company that seeks to make space tourism accessible. In July 2021, Branson made his own space flight aboard SpaceShipTwo, marking a milestone in the history of private space exploration.
