Biography / Speaker Info
Evelina Cabrera is a prominent Argentine sportswoman, coach, writer and social leader, recognized worldwide as a key figure in the promotion and empowerment of women's soccer and sport as a tool for transformation. Born in Virreyes, province of Buenos Aires, on September 26, 1986, her life is a powerful narrative of resilience: after an adolescence marked by precariousness, life on the streets and gender violence, she found in sport the way to rebuild herself and, subsequently, that of thousands of women. Her struggle has made her a global symbol of inclusion and equity.
After overcoming her complex youth, Evelina managed to finish high school and started playing amateur soccer for Club Atlético Platense. Although a benign tumor forced her to retire from the courts in 2012, this adversity did not stop her. She decided to continue to be involved in sports management, training as a trainer, coach and sports manager at the Asociación de Técnicos de Fútbol Argentino (ATFA), channeling her passion towards the development and management of sports.
In 2013, Evelina founded the Argentine Women's Football Association (AFFAR), with the fundamental purpose of promoting the social and sporting development of female players throughout the country, addressing crucial issues such as gender-based violence and the lack of resources in the field. Her tireless work, which combines technical management with ontological coaching, earned her enormous international recognition: she was included among the 100 most influential women in the world by the BBC in 2020 and elected Entrepreneur of the Year in Argentina by EY in 2021.
Her influence has transcended borders: she is an Ambassador for Equity in Sport for the Organization of American States (OAS), and has been a judge for UNESCO's Madanjeet Singh Prize. In addition, she is a sought-after speaker who has lectured at the United Nations (UN), the G20 and The Economist. She is the author of three books, including her autobiography Altanegra and Liderate/Liberate, using her personal story as a powerful engine to inspire female leadership, demonstrating that discipline and willpower prevail over any obstacle.
