Chris Gardner is an American entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker. He is known for his inspirational story of self-improvement, which was made into the movie "The Pursuit of Happyness" (2006), starring Will Smith.
Gardner faced a difficult childhood, marked by poverty, domestic abuse and the absence of his father. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he moved to San Francisco, where he struggled to establish himself.
