Bernardo Hernández

Bernardo Hernández built his career on a solid academic foundation. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Law from the Pontifical Comillas University (ICADE) in Madrid, and later supplemented his education with a prestigious MBA from Georgetown University in the United States. This dual background in business and law provided him with the analytical and strategic foundation essential for navigating and leading the complex global technology industry.

His career took off as a key figure in several highly successful tech startups. He co-founded Idealista, which established itself as one of Spain’s leading real estate portals. He also helped launch FloresFrescas.com, one of the country’s first online flower retailers. This entrepreneurial spirit and his ability to identify opportunities in the digital market led to him being recruited by a leading global technology company.

Hernández held various senior leadership positions at Google, one of the most significant phases of his career. His roles included Head of Marketing for Europe, Global Head of Emerging Products, and, notably, Global Head of Google Maps. One of his major achievements was his direct involvement in the development and global expansion of Google Maps, a tool that became a universal navigation standard. He also played a crucial role in the growth of other iconic Google initiatives, such as Google Earth and Google News.

Following his influential tenure at Google, he took on the challenge of serving as CEO of Flickr, the photography platform owned by Yahoo, where he led the effort to revitalize and modernize the service. As an investor, he has had a decisive impact on the entrepreneurial ecosystem, supporting numerous startups through funds such as SeedRocket and StepOne Ventures, contributing to the development of new companies in Spain and Latin America.
