Who is Andy Freire?
Andrés “Andy” Freire is an economist, serial entrepreneur, author, and former Argentine public official, recognized as a key figure in Latin America’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, magna cum laude, from the University of San Andrés and is an OPM (Owner/President Management) graduate of the prestigious Harvard Business School. His career is rooted in the conviction that entrepreneurship is the most powerful passport to individual freedom and an essential driver of social change.
His entrepreneurial success began with the co-founding and leadership of Officenet in 1997, alongside Santiago Bilinkis. The company revolutionized the office supply distribution industry in Latin America, becoming a case study at universities around the world and eventually being acquired by Staples. Following this milestone, he co-founded Axialent, an international consulting firm specializing in organizational culture, and later participated in the creation of other companies such as Restorando and Trocafone, establishing himself as a serial entrepreneur.
Freire’s influence extends beyond the business world; he was named a “Global Leader of Tomorrow” by the World Economic Forum and “Latin American Entrepreneur of the Year” by the Endeavor Foundation, which also selected him as an Endeavor Entrepreneur. In the public sector, he served as Minister of Modernization, Innovation, and Technology and President of the Buenos Aires City Tourism Board (2015–2017), applying the innovative spirit of entrepreneurship to public administration.
In addition to his business and political career, Andy Freire is the author of bestsellers such as *Passion for Entrepreneurship*, *50 Tips for Entrepreneurs*, and *Free! The Entrepreneurial Path as a Philosophy of Life*. He currently serves as Managing Partner at the SoftBank Latin America Fund, where he continues to drive the growth of high-impact companies. Through his books and lectures, he promotes a culture of ethical leadership, exponential innovation, and the philosophy of dedicating a small portion of one’s time to changing someone else’s life.
