Who is Juan Bautista Segonds?
Juan Bautista Segonds is an Argentine former rugby player, speaker, entrepreneur, and holistic coach, recognized for his profound work in human potential development, leadership, and the promotion of universal values. Born in Coronel Suárez, Buenos Aires province, in 1969, Segonds has transcended the boundaries of sports and business to become an inspirational figure who uses his own life experience to promote a shift in societal attitudes.
He began his career in rugby, a sport he played from the age of 8 at the Coronel Suárez Rugby Club, eventually becoming captain of the championship team in 1987. However, his most significant work lies in the field of holistic coaching, where he applies his own theories aimed at reframing life experiences—including adversity—to transform them into personal power. His seminars and workshops focus on the dichotomy “Victim or protagonist?”, inviting people to take an active role in managing their own lives and emotions.
In the world of sports, his most notable contribution came as the holistic coach of the Argentine Davis Cup team, which achieved a historic milestone in 2016 by winning the title for the first time. Under the leadership of Daniel Orsanic, Segonds played a key role in implementing a Values Program that united the team, whose purpose went beyond the sporting result with the motto: “One team, one country, one dream.” This same focus on unity and collective purpose has been adopted by other Argentine national teams.
In addition to his work in elite sports, Segonds is the president and founder of the NGO Rugby Sin Fronteras, a foundation whose mission is to use the values of rugby—such as respect and teamwork—to build peace. Through this organization, he has carried out high-impact missions in conflict zones of great significance, such as the Falkland Islands and the Gaza Strip, and has even been received by Pope Francis. His work as a promoter of peace and values has earned him numerous accolades, including the title of “Ambassador of Peace.”
