Brené Brown is an American scholar, author and speaker recognized for her research on vulnerability, courage, empathy and shame. Born on November 18, 1965 in San Antonio, Texas, Brown graduated with a bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Texas at Austin and went on to earn a master's degree and doctorate from the University of Houston.
Brown is a research professor at the University of Houston, where she has worked in the College of Social Work since 2004. Her career took off after the publication of her 2010 TED Talk, "The Power of Vulnerability," which has become one of the most viewed TED Talks of all time. In this talk, Brown explores how vulnerability is at the core of meaningful emotions and experiences, arguing that accepting our vulnerability is fundamental to living a full and authentic life.
