Hilarie Bass is a prominent U.S. attorney and legal leader known for her commitment to diversity, inclusion and the promotion of human rights. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Bass earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami, where she also served as an editor of the law review.
Throughout her career, Bass has been a prominent figure at Greenberg Traurig, one of the world's largest law firms, where she became co-chair. During her time at the firm, she handled high-profile and complex cases, excelling in commercial litigation and significant legal disputes.
In 2017, Bass was elected president of the American Bar Association (ABA), the largest organization of lawyers in the United States. In this role, she promoted key initiatives to improve social justice, gender equality and legal accessibility. One of her major accomplishments was the creation of the Commission on Women in the Legal Profession, which works to advance gender equity in the legal profession.
In addition, Bass founded the Bass Institute for Diversity & Inclusion, an organization dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace and in society at large. His leadership in this area has been widely recognized, receiving numerous awards and distinctions for his civil rights work and his tireless advocacy for underrepresented groups.
