Franco Colapinto

Franco Colapinto is an Argentine race car driver who reached Formula 1 after a rapid rise through the top international single-seater series. His arrival in the top tier marked Argentina’s return to a Grand Prix after more than two decades and made him one of the Latin American sports figures with the greatest international profile.

He began his career in karting and later moved to Europe to continue his professional career. In 2019, he was crowned champion of the Spanish Formula 4 series and went on to compete in series such as the Formula Renault Eurocup, the Asian Le Mans Series, Formula Regional, Formula 3, and Formula 2. His results and progress as a driver led to his acceptance into the Williams Racing Driver Academy.

In 2024, Williams signed him to compete in the final nine races of the Formula 1 season. His performance during that stretch quickly boosted his international profile and ushered in a new phase of his career. In 2025, he joined Alpine, initially as a reserve driver, and later took over a starting seat beginning with the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, replacing Jack Doohan.

Alpine retained Colapinto as a factory driver for the 2026 season alongside Pierre Gasly, and in August confirmed that the same duo would remain together for the 2027 season. His journey from the junior ranks to establishing himself in Formula 1 reflects discipline, perseverance, adaptability, and the ability to respond quickly to highly demanding opportunities within the elite of global motorsports.
