Ouided Bouchamaoui is a Tunisian businesswoman and activist, known for her pivotal role in mediation and leadership during the 2011 Tunisian Revolution, an event that marked the beginning of the Arab Spring. She graduated in Economics from the University of Tunis.
Bouchamaoui is recognized for her dedication to strengthening civil society and her commitment to promoting democracy and human rights in Tunisia. During the Tunisian Revolution, she played a crucial role as president of the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Crafts (UTICA), using her position to mediate between the government and the protesters, thus contributing to the country's political stability.
One of Bouchamaoui's most significant achievements was his participation in Tunisia's National Dialogue in 2013, where he led negotiations between political parties and civil organizations to establish a transitional government and draft a new democratic constitution. For his contribution to political stability and democracy in Tunisia, Bouchamaoui received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2015, shared with other leaders of the National Dialogue.
