Biography
Lionel Scaloni is a former professional soccer player and soccer coach. He is a world-renowned sportsman and is a reference for coaching the Argentine national soccer team.
His first official experience as a coach is as DT of the Argentine national team where he started as interim and obtained the support of the players and the AFA who ratified him in the position. The national team he coaches won the Copa America in Brazil (2021), beating Brazil in the final at the Maracana. He also won the Finalissima (2021) played in Wemblew, against Italy. His greatest achievement was winning the World Cup in Qatar (2022) by winning a thrilling final against France. He is the only South American coach to win Copa America, Finalissima and World Cup.
As a player, he developed his professional career with Deportivo de La Coruña, with which he won a Spanish league, a Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups. He was also world youth champion with the Argentine U-20 national team.
